A series dedicated to conscious listening

Lezioni di Ascolto is the event series hosted by the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone in Rome, dedicated to the critical and thoughtful appreciation of recorded music. Created to reconnect the public with conscious listening, the series explains the current landscape of audio reproduction in a simple and accessible way: from vintage turntables to streaming platforms, including the resurgence of vinyl and magnetic tape.

The sessions and curators

The series is curated by industry journalists Giancarlo Valletta and Giulio Salvioni, who have built a staple event for high-fidelity enthusiasts, audiophiles, and the simply curious. Each session addresses a specific theme with the help of qualified guests: sound engineers, producers, musicians, and equipment designers. The evenings are held in Studio 2 and Studio 3 of the complex designed by Renzo Piano, located in the Flaminio district.

A staple of Roman culture

With affordable evening sessions, Lezioni di Ascolto has carved out a permanent place in the cultural calendar of the City of Rome and the Lazio region. The series runs throughout the autumn-winter season, from October to April, with monthly meetings always at 9:00 PM. It is organized by the Fondazione Musica per Roma, the entity that manages the Auditorium, one of the largest multifunctional music complexes in Europe.

The evenings are designed for both those already familiar with the world of high fidelity and those approaching the topic of quality listening for the first time. The language is accessible, avoiding excessive technical jargon, and each session leaves room for discussion with the audience. It is an opportunity to understand how the way we listen to music has changed and to rediscover the attention and depth that listening can still offer.
