Le Notti del Vino is the summer event where Marino, in the province of Rome, celebrates its winemaking heritage. The festival is part of the national calendar promoted by the National Association of Wine Cities, which every July brings vibrant tasting evenings to dozens of Italian wine villages. In the Lazio region, Marino is one of the most popular stops, building on a tradition rooted in the famous Grape Festival and the centuries-old bond between the city and the vine.
The Belvedere Mastroianni, the heart of the festival
The headquarters is the Belvedere Umberto Mastroianni, on Via Palazzo Colonna: a panoramic terrace overlooking the Roman countryside that, for two nights, fills with tables, umbrellas, linens, and floral arrangements. Here, visitors pick up their branded wine glass and lanyard to wander from stall to stall, sampling DOC wines from the Castelli Romani, from the local Marino white to labels from wineries across the district, with the selection growing every year. Beside the tasting stalls, you will find the food area, featuring local gastronomic delights designed to pair perfectly with your glass.
Beyond the glass: culture, art, and the underground
What sets the Marino event apart is the blend of wine tourism and heritage. Along Corso Trieste, Marino a Colori takes place—an outdoor painting event curated by the Pro Loco and the Association of the Hundred Painters of Via Margutta: artists paint live throughout the day, capturing glimpses of the historic center. In the evening, the Palazzo Colonna underground and the Cooper's Museum—a testament to the craft that has supported local winemaking for generations—open for free, by reservation. In recent editions, the itinerary has also extended to the Mithraeum of Marino, one of the best-preserved Mithraic temples in the world, as well as astronomical observations with telescopes.
Music and gatherings
The soundtrack accompanies the entire two-day event: lounge and chill-out selections in Piazza della Repubblica, in the Wine Shopping Area, and live concerts on the Belvedere featuring jazz and singer-songwriter performances. There is no shortage of seminars, talk shows, and historical conferences dedicated to the relationship between Marino and wine, as well as video retrospectives on the century-long history of the Grape Festival.
A widespread event in the historic center
For the occasion, the center of Marino changes its face: Piazza San Barnaba, Corso Trieste, and the surrounding streets are closed to traffic and returned to pedestrians from the previous afternoon. Strolling among the Baroque fountains, churches, and alleys of the village, glass in hand, is an integral part of the experience. The formula—free entry, ticketed tastings—makes the festival accessible to both enthusiasts and families visiting from nearby towns.

Le Notti del Vino 2026 in Marino
Coordinated by the National Association of Wine Cities and organized by the Department of Tourism and Entertainment of the Municipality of Marino with the Pro Loco Marino APS, the cultural association Idee in Fermentazione, and Radio Roma, the 2026 edition confirmed the formula that unites wine and heritage. The Belvedere Umberto Mastroianni hosted the tasting stalls of the district's wineries—which saw a significant increase this year—alongside the food area and in-depth meetings.
The historic center was pedestrianized starting at 6:00 PM on Friday, July 10, with transit and parking bans in Piazza San Barnaba, Corso Trieste, Via Fratelli Rosselli, Via Garibaldi, and Via Cavour, and a temporary reversal of the one-way traffic on Via Cavour towards Largo Palazzo Colonna.

How to get there
By train: FL4 line Rome Termini - Albano Laziale, stop at Marino Laziale; the historic center can be reached by bus or a walk uphill. By car: from the Grande Raccordo Anulare, take exit 23 Appia, then follow Via dei Laghi or Via Appia Nuova; approximately 25 km from Rome. During the event, parking bans and road closures are in effect in Piazza San Barnaba, Corso Trieste, Via Fratelli Rosselli, Via Garibaldi, and Via Cavour: it is advisable to leave your car in the parking lots outside the center.
Entry and tastings
Entry to the event is free. Tastings are available by purchasing tickets and collecting your glass and lanyard at the Belvedere. Guided tours of the Palazzo Colonna underground and the Cooper's Museum are free but require mandatory reservation ([email protected]).
Tips
Arrive for the evening opening, around 7:30 PM, to avoid queues at the tasting stalls. Wear comfortable shoes: the village is hilly and paved with cobblestones. For those wishing to stay overnight, the accommodation options in the Castelli Romani (Marino, Castel Gandolfo, Frascati, Grottaferrata) are extensive and well-connected to Rome.
