Three days among the blooming fields of Agriturismo La Piantata, in the Tuscia region of Viterbo
Every year in early July, Agriturismo La Piantata in Arlena di Castroโnestled in the heart of the Tuscia Viterbese region (Lazio)โcelebrates the peak of the lavender bloom with the Lavender Festival. For three days, the vast purple expanse cultivated on the volcanic hills of northern Lazio becomes the backdrop for one of the most anticipated sensory events of the summer season.
La Piantata is renowned far beyond regional borders for its organic lavender fields and its famous treehouses tucked away in the countryside. During the Lavender Festival, visitors can wander through the blooming rows, breathe in the intense fragrance of the plants at their peak, and discover how lavender is cultivated, harvested, and transformed into essential oils, cosmetics, and local artisanal products.
The program blends nature, culture, and wellness. Recurring highlights of the event include:
The Lavender Festival is part of the broader tourist appeal of the Tuscia region, a land of medieval villages, Etruscan necropolises, and rural landscapes. Located between Arlena di Castro and nearby Tuscania, La Piantata attracts nature lovers, photography enthusiasts, and experiential travelers from all over Lazio and beyond every summer. The lavender bloom, which reaches its peak between late June and mid-July, offers one of the most evocative natural spectacles in the region.
As this event is hosted on a working farm, many activities require reservations and have limited capacity to ensure an intimate experience in direct contact with nature. The festival is suitable for families and those seeking a day outdoors away from the crowds.
The fifteenth edition was held on July 3, 4, and 5, 2026, at Agriturismo La Piantata in Arlena di Castro (VT), during the peak of the lavender bloom. The opening on Friday, July 3, featured an aperitif in the fields with an aerial show. Throughout the weekend, workshops, walks, and wellness moments took place among the purple rows.
The program included the Nature Trail, a botanical-archaeological path leading to a 4th-century BC Etruscan tomb, botanical watercolor and lavender soap workshops, an Hatha Yoga session, and a guided walk with the agronomist through the crops.
