The neighborhood festival of the Laghetto district

The Laghetto Party is the summer event that brings the Laghetto district to life in the municipality of Monte Compatri (Metropolitan City of Rome, Lazio). For two consecutive nights, Piazza San Lorenzo Martire transforms into a large open-air living room: food stalls and street food along the perimeter, a stage in the center, and tables and chairs where local families gather until late at night. It is a community festival in the most authentic sense, built by the volunteers of the Pro Loco Monte Compatri and designed primarily for those who live here.

Part of the Estate Monticiana program

The Laghetto Party is not an isolated event: it is part of the Estate Monticiana, the summer festival promoted by the Municipality of Monte Compatri that spreads dozens of evenings of music, theater, outdoor cinema, and food and wine throughout the area, from the historic center to the Viale Busnago promenade, and from Parco Calahorra to the districts of Molara and Laghetto. In this mosaic, the Laghetto square has a precise role: it is the neighborhood hub that gathers families from the lower part of the town, closer to the Via Casilina and the plains.

Live music and karaoke

The formula is tried, tested, and deliberately popular. One evening is dedicated to karaoke with the Karaloco format and entertainment: open microphone, games, and direct audience involvement, with children taking center stage in the first part of the evening. The other evening features a tribute concert, with bands bringing the repertoire of great international rock to the square. There is no search for exclusivity: the goal is to get the whole square singing and dancing, from teenagers to grandparents sitting in the front row.

Street food and local cuisine

The gastronomic side is typical of the village festivals of the Castelli Romani: street food stalls, fried snacks, sandwiches, draft beer, and desserts, with the option to dine directly in the square before the show. Those who want to extend the experience can find the local fraschette (traditional taverns) and wineries in the area just a few kilometers away, where you can taste porchetta, Colli Albani wines, and the most authentic Roman cuisine.

Laghetto and Monte Compatri

Monte Compatri is one of the villages of the Castelli Romani, perched on the Colli Albani just over twenty kilometers from Rome, with a spiral-shaped historic center that culminates in the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and a panorama that, on clear days, reaches the sea. Laghetto is its most populous district, which grew in the valley along the route to Rome, with a strong identity of its own that is expressed above all in the patronal feast of San Lorenzo Martire, the most heartfelt moment of the year. The Laghetto Party fits into this neighborhood life: lighter than the patronal feast, but with the same spirit of participation.

The Laghetto Party is one of the simplest and most direct ways to get into the heart of it: you arrive at dinner time, eat in the square, stay for the concert, and go home with the feeling of having spent an evening in a real town, not a tourist showcase.
