High-level show jumping at 1,500 metres altitude
Jumping Torgnon is the major national show jumping competition that every summer transforms Torgnon, a municipality in Valtournenche in the province of Aosta, into a benchmark for Italian equestrianism. The competitions take place in a mountain arena at an altitude of about 1,500 metres, in the Plan Prorion area, within a landscape setting that makes this event unique on the national scene.
The event is spread over several consecutive weekends between July and August, with national A3* level competitions. Categories range from beginners (L60) to the major Gold C140 events and the C135 Grand Prix, attracting some of the best horse-and-rider combinations in show jumping. The total prize money is significant, testifying to the importance the event has gained in the federal calendar.
Organised by ASD Torgnon Endurance in collaboration with the Municipality and the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation (FISE), Jumping Torgnon combines high-level sport with the tourism promotion of the Aosta Valley. For the public, it is an opportunity to watch spectacular competitions for free in an alpine setting, while for the region, it represents a draw during the summer season.
