IO VINO, the festival of native grape varieties in Rome

IO VINO is the wine event that brings the best of viticulture from two regions with strong identities—Marche and Campania—to Rome every year. Founded in 2016 by Romina Lombardi and Manlio Frattari, the festival has grown with each edition to become a highly anticipated appointment for enthusiasts and industry professionals, hosted in the halls of the Courtyard by Marriott Rome Central Park, in the heart of the EUR district.

The 9th edition

The ninth edition takes place on Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 7:30 PM, confirming the format that has made the event so recognizable: over seventy wineries from Marche and Campania present their wines at tasting tables, where the public can engage directly with the producers. The absolute stars remain the native grape varieties, often little-known but capable of telling the story of the territory better than any famous label.

Sciascinoso and Grenache del Piceno

Every edition of IO VINO focuses on specific signature grape varieties. For Campania, the spotlight is on Sciascinoso, an ancient and fascinating red grape, while for Marche, the event explores the new path of the region's reds, with particular attention to Grenache del Piceno. Alongside the main protagonists, there is no shortage of guests: the event has already welcomed wineries from other regions, such as guests from Sardinia, demonstrating a curiosity that transcends regional borders.

Masterclasses and IO VINO Awards

The educational core of the day is entrusted to masterclasses, limited-seating sessions led by critics and journalists. The program includes a tasting dedicated to local food pairings curated by Romina Lombardi, an in-depth look at Marche reds with Pierpaolo Rastelli, and the "The Mysterious Sciascinoso" masterclass led by Alessandro Marra. Closing the event are the IO VINO Awards, coordinated by Alessio Pietrobattista: the Critics' Award for the Best Sciascinoso, the Critics' Award for the best red from Marche, and the People's Choice Award for the Best Winery.
