Scholars discuss the Samnite bronze, a treasure of pre-Roman Italy
The Agnone Table (or Oscan Table) is a bronze tablet inscribed in the Oscan language, among the most important finds from pre-Roman Italy and a fundamental document for understanding the language, religion, and culture of the Samnite people. Found in the territory of Agnone, in the province of Isernia, it is one of the identity symbols of Alto Molise.
The conference "The Agnone Table in the Italic Context" brings together Italian and international scholars at the Teatro Italo Argentino for three days of scientific presentations. The event is the result of collaboration between the Municipality of Agnone, the Ministry of Culture, the Superintendence for Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Molise, the National Institute of Archaeology and Art History, and the Directorate of Regional Museums of Molise, and is part of the cultural hub project of Palazzo Bonanni.
Although it is a scientific conference, the event is open to the public with free admission: an opportunity to bring the general public closer to Samnite history and pre-Roman Italic civilization, in a village that holds archaeological heritage of national value.
The 2026 edition — the second International Conference of Studies — of "The Agnone Table in the Italic Context" was held from May 22 to 24 at the Teatro Italo Argentino in Agnone. Three days of scientific discussion on the Oscan Table and Samnite civilization, with presentations by numerous Italian and foreign scholars. Among the speakers were Enrico Rinaldi, director of the Archaeological Park of Sepino and the Regional Directorate of Museums of Molise, and the expert in Italic antiquities Adriano La Regina. The event, with free admission, was part of the cultural hub project of Palazzo Bonanni.
The detailed program of presentations was published by the organizers before the event.
