The international classical music festival that turns Acqui Terme into a global capital of classical music
The InterHarmony International Music Festival is one of the most prestigious classical music events held in Italy. Every summer, it transforms Acqui Terme, an elegant spa town in the Province of Alessandria, Piedmont, into a vibrant international musical laboratory. Founded in 1997 by cellist and artistic director Misha Quint, the festival has traveled through Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Germany over the years, eventually choosing Acqui Terme as its permanent Italian home, alongside its German base in Sulzbach-Rosenberg.
During the festival weeks, the town welcomes hundreds of participants: young musicians, students, and renowned faculty from over thirty countries. It is a time when Acqui Terme breathes a cosmopolitan and refined atmosphere, with music resonating through its historic churches and most evocative spaces. The festival is divided into two two-week sessions, designed to offer an intensive path of study and performance.
The heart of InterHarmony is twofold. On one hand, there is the educational dimension: masterclasses and advanced training courses dedicated to strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass), woodwinds (flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, horn, trombone), piano, opera, and composition, featuring individual lessons, chamber music coaching, seminars, and orchestra rehearsals. On the other hand, there is the concert dimension, open to everyone: a rich season of evenings where faculty and young talents perform together.
Concerts are held in the most characteristic locations of Acqui Terme: the Chiesa dell'Addolorata, the Chiesa di Santo Spirito, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta (the Duomo), and the concert hall of Sala La Meridiana. These are historic spaces with intense acoustics that make every performance a unique experience for both the audience and the performers themselves.
Attending an InterHarmony evening means listening to top-tier music in an intimate and welcoming setting, immersed in the beauty of a Piedmontese spa town rich in history. It is a rare opportunity to experience great chamber music and the classical repertoire in an international atmosphere, just a short walk from the center of Acqui Terme.
For the 2026 edition, the InterHarmony International Music Festival returns to Acqui Terme with two intensive sessions of study and concerts. Session I takes place from June 30 to July 12, and Session II from July 14 to 26. The event attracts over 360 musicians from more than twenty countries, including young talents and internationally renowned faculty, confirming Acqui Terme as the Piedmontese capital of classical music. Public concerts, with free admission, are held in the Chiesa dell'Addolorata, the Chiesa di Santo Spirito, and at the Sala La Meridiana.
Advanced training courses cover strings, woodwinds, piano, opera, and composition, with individual lessons, chamber music coaching, seminars, and orchestra rehearsals.
The festival takes place between late June and late July, divided into two two-week sessions. Public concerts are concentrated in the second part of each session.
