In the heart of the Fidene district, within Rome's Municipio III, the greenery of Parco Labia becomes the open-air stage for one of the most beloved film festivals in the capital's suburbs every summer. «Il Cinema Oltre» is a free and fully accessible arena that, night after night, brings together families, film buffs, and curious locals in front of a large screen set up among the park's trees.

The event is conceived and organized by the Spinoff ETS association, a local organization that has been working for years to foster cultural participation and a sense of community in the neighborhoods of north-east Rome. The festival is part of the Arene di Roma program promoted by Roma Capitale – Department of Culture, in collaboration with Zètema Progetto Cultura.

More than just films: a neighborhood cultural project

What sets «Il Cinema Oltre» apart from a standard summer arena is its connection to sustainable development themes: each edition is dedicated to the United Nations 2030 Agenda, with a particular focus on Goal 16, which covers peace, justice, and strong institutions. Cinema thus becomes a pretext for shared reflection in a lighthearted and engaging way.

Before the screenings, the park comes alive in the late afternoon with activities for all ages: the famous «Quizzone», a prize game based on film trivia and nature conservation, workshops, a photography exhibition open every night, and a refreshment area with foosball. Special attention is paid to accessibility: the arena is free of architectural barriers, and films are presented with Italian subtitles to ensure they are accessible to the deaf and hard of hearing.

The lineup alternates between major animated features for children, international auteur films in their original language, and successful Italian works. From Disney classics to European cinematic masterpieces, the selection is designed to satisfy a diverse, intergenerational audience, with a keen eye on environmental and social issues.
