About Holy Week Campobasso

The Holy Week of Campobasso marks the days leading up to Easter with a rich program of diocesan celebrations presided over by the Archbishop: from the blessing of the Palms to the Chrism Mass, from the Mass in Coena Domini on Holy Thursday to the Liturgy of the Cross and the evocative procession on Good Friday, up to the Easter Vigil and the solemn Pontifical Mass on Easter Day.

The liturgical heart of Campobasso's spring

Holy Week is one of the most intense moments of religious life in Campobasso, the capital of Molise. The diocesan celebrations, presided over by the Archbishop in the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity and in the main churches of the city, accompany the faithful throughout the entire Easter Triduum.

From Palms to Easter

The journey begins with Palm Sunday and the blessing of the branches in the church of San Leonardo, followed by the procession to the Cathedral. In the following days, the Chrism Mass, the Mass in Coena Domini on Holy Thursday, the Liturgy of the Cross, and the famous Good Friday procession are celebrated. The journey culminates in the Easter Vigil and the solemn Pontifical Mass on Easter Day.

A Church close to everyone

Among the celebrations, the Masses at the House of Detention stand out, a sign of the ecclesial community's attention to prisoners. The diocesan program involves parishes, confraternities, and faithful from all over the Archdiocese of Campobasso-Bojano, making Holy Week a choral event for the city.
