The half marathon on the San Benedetto del Tronto seafront
The Half Marathon of Flowers is one of the reference running events in San Benedetto del Tronto, in the province of Ascoli Piceno (Marche). Founded in 2000, every year in spring it transforms the seafront of the Riviera delle Palme into a large race circuit, where elite athletes, masters, and simple enthusiasts share the same start for 21.097 kilometers along the Adriatic Sea.
The route is one of the reasons for the event's success: completely flat and traffic-free, it winds along the city's avenues and seafront, crossing the most scenic parts of the coast. It is an ideal course for those seeking their personal best, immersed in a natural setting of sea, palm trees, and open sky. The start and finish are in Piazza Giorgini, the beating heart of the event.
The main day is Sunday, with the simultaneous start of the 21.097 km half marathon and the 10.5 km Stracittadina, followed by non-competitive races and the 4 km walk open to families and beginners. Saturday is dedicated to the younger generation, with youth races over various distances and a treasure hunt to discover the city designed for children and families.
Organized by Atletica Avis San Benedetto del Tronto, the race has grown to host important national events, such as the Italian Master Half Marathon Championships, and to be included in circuits like the Criterium Piceni&Pretuzi. Over the years, the finish line has seen top Kenyan and Italian athletes triumph, confirming the technical value of the course. Each edition attracts over two thousand participants from numerous Italian regions, making the Half Marathon of Flowers an event capable of combining sports competition and tourism promotion for the Piceno territory.
The 26th edition of the Half Marathon of Flowers was held in San Benedetto del Tronto on the weekend of April 11-12, 2026, organized by Atletica Avis San Benedetto del Tronto as part of the Criterium Piceni&Pretuzi circuit.
Over 2,300 participants enlivened the three scheduled distances: the 21.097 km half marathon, the 10.5 km race, and the 4 km family walk. Among the largest groups was Palestra Olympia from Porto d'Ascoli, with 55 registered participants. Runners came from various Italian regions, including Umbria, Lazio, Emilia Romagna, Calabria, and Lombardy.
Victory in the men's half marathon for Kenyan Lengen Lolkurraru in 1h03'57", ahead of Laban Kipkemboi (7 seconds behind) and Italian Valerio Santoro (Polisportiva Eppe Merla). Among the women, Nyabocha Nyaboke won in 1h13'40", followed by Giulia Giorgi (Calcestruzzi Corradini) and Simona Santini (Atletica 85 Faenza).
