The grand celebration of alpine horse breeds in the heart of Val Rendena
In the small village of Strembo, nestled in Val Rendena in the heart of the Giudicarie valleys, one of the most deep-rooted equestrian events in Trentino-Alto Adige takes place every summer: the Interregional Haflinger and Noriker Horse Exhibition. Organized by the Strembo e Tradizione association with the support of ANACRHAI (National Association of Haflinger Horse Breeders of Italy), the exhibition attracts breeders, enthusiasts, and families from across the entire Alpine region.
The absolute stars of the show are the Haflinger horses, with their characteristic chestnut coats and blonde manes, and the powerful Noriker draft horses. Both breeds have been an integral part of mountain farming culture and work on alpine pastures for centuries, prized for their strength, endurance, and docile nature. The exhibition was created specifically to promote local breeding and keep this tradition alive.
The two days at the Giorgio Ducoli Municipal Park offer a rich and varied program:
During the event, a free shuttle train connects Strembo with the neighboring towns of Caderzone Terme and Bocenago, making it easy to reach the festival.
More than just a livestock show, the Strembo Exhibition is a true community festival that celebrates the deep bond between Val Rendena, its people, and its horses. Set against the backdrop of the Brenta Dolomites and the Adamello massif, the event offers visitors a deep dive into authentic Trentino alpine traditions, blending folklore, gastronomy, and equestrian passion.
In 2026, the Strembo Exhibition celebrates its 40th anniversary. On Saturday, August 22, and Sunday, August 23, the Giorgio Ducoli Municipal Park will host the exhibition and judging of the best Haflinger and Noriker horses, culminating in the Best in Show proclamation.
The program includes a grand folk parade with horses, bands, and costume groups, equestrian shows featuring the Enrico Show, a performance by His Majesty's Falconers, pony rides for children, a farmers' market with street food and local specialties, live music, and the closing fireworks display. The free shuttle train between Strembo, Caderzone Terme, and Bocenago will be in operation.
