About Haflinger and Noriker Exhibition

Every summer, Strembo in Val Rendena hosts the Interregional Haflinger and Noriker Horse Exhibition, one of Trentino's most beloved equestrian events. Held at the Giorgio Ducoli Municipal Park, this two-day festival features the judging of the finest horses, a spectacular folk parade, equestrian shows, a farmers' market with local products, live music, and a grand fireworks finale. An event that blends alpine tradition, horse breeding, and village festivities.

The Haflinger and Noriker Horse Exhibition in Strembo

In the small village of Strembo, nestled in Val Rendena in the heart of the Giudicarie valleys, one of the most deep-rooted equestrian events in Trentino-Alto Adige takes place every summer: the Interregional Haflinger and Noriker Horse Exhibition. Organized by the Strembo e Tradizione association with the support of ANACRHAI (National Association of Haflinger Horse Breeders of Italy), the exhibition attracts breeders, enthusiasts, and families from across the entire Alpine region.

Two iconic mountain breeds

The absolute stars of the show are the Haflinger horses, with their characteristic chestnut coats and blonde manes, and the powerful Noriker draft horses. Both breeds have been an integral part of mountain farming culture and work on alpine pastures for centuries, prized for their strength, endurance, and docile nature. The exhibition was created specifically to promote local breeding and keep this tradition alive.

The program

The two days at the Giorgio Ducoli Municipal Park offer a rich and varied program:

  • Exhibition and judging of the finest specimens, with the proclamation of the Best in Show;
  • Folk parade through the village streets, featuring horses, marching bands, traditional costume groups, and local associations;
  • Equestrian shows, including the famous Enrico Show, with demonstrations of classical and acrobatic riding;
  • Performance by the Falconieri di Sua Maestà (His Majesty's Falconers);
  • Saddle baptism (pony rides) for children;
  • Farmers' market with local products, street food, and regional specialties;
  • Live music and, as a grand finale, a spectacular fireworks display.

During the event, a free shuttle train connects Strembo with the neighboring towns of Caderzone Terme and Bocenago, making it easy to reach the festival.

A celebration for the entire region

More than just a livestock show, the Strembo Exhibition is a true community festival that celebrates the deep bond between Val Rendena, its people, and its horses. Set against the backdrop of the Brenta Dolomites and the Adamello massif, the event offers visitors a deep dive into authentic Trentino alpine traditions, blending folklore, gastronomy, and equestrian passion.
