The children's Carnival in Piazza Tache, at the foot of Monte Rosa
Gressoney-La-Trinité is the last village in the Lys Valley, nestled at an altitude of 1,624 metres right below the Monte Rosa massif, in the province of Aosta. Here, where the Walser German-speaking community still preserves traditions, costumes, and its own dialect, Carnival also has the intimate feel of small mountain villages.
The Gressoney-La-Trinité Carnival is not a large masked parade like the historic ones in the lower valley (Verrès, Pont-Saint-Martin), but a village festival dedicated to children. The heart of the event is Piazza Tache, the space in front of the town hall, where families and children gather in the afternoon to play together.
Included in the resort's winter events calendar, the Gressoney-La-Trinité Carnival is the ideal time for those spending a day skiing and wanting to treat their children to an afternoon of celebration, amidst the stone and wood houses of the village.
The 2026 edition of the Gressoney-La-Trinité Carnival takes place on Saturday, February 21 in Piazza Tache, in the heart of the village.
From 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM, the square transforms into a large open-air play area: group games for children, mascots entertaining the little ones, and colourful balloons. A simple and joyful celebration, perfect for happily ending a day in the snow.
Gressoney-La-Trinité can be reached by car from Pont-Saint-Martin, travelling up the entire Lys Valley along the SR44. Piazza Tache is located in the centre of the village, next to the town hall.
