The harvest festival in Val Pontida

The Grape Festival of Pontida is the event at the end of September that celebrates the grape harvest and the wine culture of Val Pontida, in the province of Bergamo. Organized by the Pro Loco (local tourism board), it takes place at the village's festival area and attracts thousands of visitors each year eager to taste local products and experience the authentic atmosphere of a village festival.

Flavors of Bergamo tradition

Cuisine is one of the souls of the festival. At the stands, you can taste typical dishes such as casoncelli, pizzoccheri, polenta with rabbit, casöela with polenta and snails, accompanied by local wine. Each evening offers a different menu, in a gastronomic journey that tells the peasant tradition of Val Pontida and the Bergamo area.

The Grape Festival of Pontida has a particular focus on country and bluegrass music, with concerts animating the evenings at the festival area. Alongside the music, the program includes the traditional grape stomping, ancient games, activities for children and families, and the "Pontida and its colors" photography contest, testifying to a deep connection with the landscape and the village's identity.

Pontida is famous throughout Italy for the Oath of 1167, when the Lombard communes allied against Emperor Frederick Barbarossa.
