The Pro Loco's masked parade, on the outskirts of Como
The Grandate Carnival is the eagerly awaited masked event that enlivens this town in the province of Como every winter, just a few kilometres from the provincial capital. Organized by the Pro Loco Grandate, it takes place at the Area Feste del Campo Basket on Via Manzoni and is a festival designed primarily for children and families, following the Lombard carnival tradition.
The afternoon begins with the registration of the costumed children, followed by the parade of costumes and the awards for the most beautiful and original masks. This is the highlight of the festival, where the creativity of participants, both young and old, is showcased and rewarded, in a climate of joy and light-heartedness.
The Grandate Carnival is one of the most cherished community events in the local calendar, the result of the Pro Loco's voluntary efforts. Amidst confetti, costumes, and fun, it brings the community together for an afternoon dedicated to celebration and tradition, in the heart of the province of Como.
The 2026 edition of the Grandate Carnival celebrates its 50th anniversary. The festival takes place on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Area Feste del Campo Basket on Via Manzoni, with the usual afternoon dedicated to costumed children, the parade, and awards for the most beautiful costumes, organized by Pro Loco Grandate.
