Slow down and rediscover the beauty of living at Palazzo De Philippis
GodiCilento – GodiciLento is a cultural and social event held in Bellosguardo, a small village in the province of Salerno, Campania, set between the Alburni mountains and the Cilento region. The name plays on the invitation at the heart of the initiative: to enjoy (godere) the Cilento and, at the same time, «godici lento» (enjoy it slowly), meaning to slow down the pace to rediscover the beauty of daily life, the value of places, and the richness of human connections.
The event takes place at Palazzo De Philippis, on Via Mazzini, in the historic center of Bellosguardo. This ancient noble residence has been returned to the community as a space for wine tasting and local product shops, as well as a venue for meetings, presentations, and cultural activities. This is where the GodiCilento project was born, designed as a showcase for local excellence and a laboratory of ideas for the inland areas of Campania.
The second edition took place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, starting at 5:30 PM. The theme chosen by the organizers was the relationship between culture, communication, and the development of inland territories: how places can transform and evolve into new cultural, tourist, and economic opportunities without betraying their soul.
Following the institutional greetings from Geppino Parente, Mayor of Bellosguardo and President of the Province of Salerno, the cultural project of Palazzo De Philippis was presented, followed by the screening of the art film «Il Bordello Trilogico della sostituzione e della commutazione» by director Domenico Pierro.
At 6:00 PM, a roundtable brought together administrators and professionals in communication and territorial marketing: Bruno Tierno, Mayor of Sant'Angelo a Fasanella, Giuseppe Jepis Rivello, CEO of Jepis Bottega, Biagio Cafaro, CEO of the branding agency Qcore, and Mafalda Inglese, CEO of My Fair Srl and expert in territorial marketing. The discussion focused on experiential tourism, synergies between businesses and institutions, and sustainable development models rooted in the quality of life and the identity of the villages.
Reflection then gives way to conviviality, an integral part of the formula. From 8:00 PM, the food area opens, featuring local flavors, while at 9:30 PM, the evening concludes with a concert by the Stragatti, bringing live music to the heart of the village.
GodiCilento was born on May 3, 2025, again at Palazzo De Philippis, with a day entirely dedicated to slowness as a life choice. The program alternated between workshops and storytelling: handmade pasta with fusilli di Felitto (a Slow Food Presidium), bread-making with ancient Cilento grains, the screening of the documentary «I cilentenari» by Andrea D'Ambrosio dedicated to the centenarians of Cilento, and, in closing, a show cooking session with tastings. Even in that first edition, the essence of the event was clear: combining the pleasure of the table with reflection on the identity of a territory that has made the Mediterranean Diet a recognized heritage.
With just under seven hundred inhabitants and an altitude of about 559 meters, Bellosguardo is one of the most intimate villages in the province of Salerno. It is located at the foot of the Alburni massif, in a border area between the Vallo di Diano and the inland Cilento, where rural landscapes, forests, and caves coexist with a gastronomic tradition made of ancient grains, cheeses, olive oil, and fresh pasta. These are the resources upon which GodiCilento seeks to build a development narrative: not tourism that just passes through, but tourism that stops, listens, and tastes.
On Saturday, June 6, 2026, Palazzo De Philippis, on Via Mazzini in Bellosguardo, hosted the second edition of GodiCilento – GodiciLento. The chosen theme — «culture, identity, and new opportunities» — focused on a concrete question: can Cilento and the inland areas of the Salerno province build growth models based on quality of life and the identity of the places?
The day opened at 5:30 PM with institutional greetings from Geppino Parente, Mayor of Bellosguardo and President of the Province of Salerno, followed by the presentation of the Palazzo De Philippis cultural project and the screening of the art film by director Domenico Pierro. By car: Bellosguardo is easily reached from the A2 del Mediterraneo motorway, exiting at Sicignano degli Alburni and continuing along the provincial roads that climb the Alburni massif. This is the most practical option, as the village is not served by frequent public transport.
By train and plane: The reference railway station and airport is Salerno, from where you can continue by car towards the hinterland.
Free admission. The food area, active from the evening, offers typical dishes and local products.
The village is located at a high altitude: even in spring and early summer, it is advisable to bring a light jacket for the outdoor evening. Those arriving from afar can combine their visit with the caves and trails of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park, just a few kilometers away.
