Gnocchi Festival

In 2025, the Gnocchi Festival of Riofreddo, in Lazio, took place on Sunday, May 11. The kitchens opened at noon in Piazza Ricciotti Garibaldi, with a complete menu offered at 15 euros: bruschetta, handmade gnocchi, arrosticini, grilled sausage, beans, bread, and a drink (water or wine). The children's menu, at 7 euros, included hot dogs, chips, and a drink.

As per tradition, the gnocchi were prepared by hand by the village ladies and served in two variations, with meat sauce or truffle mushrooms for those preferring the meat-free option.

Alongside the culinary aspect, the day offered a cultural opportunity: from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, visitors could tour the villa built in 1888 by Ricciotti Garibaldi, the youngest son of Giuseppe Garibaldi, for a symbolic donation of 1 euro. The site is now a museum housing memorabilia and documents of the Italian Risorgimento.
