The Advent market in the smallest town in South Tyrol, themed «Lights-Scents-Sounds»
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In Glorenza (Glurns), a medieval jewel in the Vinschgau Valley of South Tyrol, the Glurnser Advent is one of the most distinctive Christmas markets in the region. Its uniqueness lies in its setting: Glorenza is the smallest town in the region, still entirely enclosed within its medieval walls, where the torch-lit stalls come to life beneath the ancient portici (arcades) and in the main square.
The event's motto, «Licht-Düfte-Klänge» (Lights-Scents-Sounds), perfectly captures its spirit: far from the crowded, large-scale markets, the Glorenza Advent stands out for its contemplative, romantic, and family-friendly atmosphere. The warm glow of torches, the scent of cinnamon and baked apples, and the sounds of traditional music create an intimate setting that helps visitors rediscover the most authentic meaning of Advent.
The market brings together over forty exhibitors from the Upper Vinschgau, South Tyrol, and neighboring Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. You will find traditional handicrafts, handmade Christmas decorations, local food products, and homemade specialties, all along a path that winds through the arcades and the historic town square.
The heart of the event lies in its musical performances: local choirs and brass bands, along with other wind ensembles, fill the days with traditional Advent melodies. There are also plenty of activities for children, including storytelling, entertainment, and family-focused moments. All this makes the Glurnser Advent a beloved destination for both Vinschgau locals and visitors who choose Glorenza to experience a Christmas of yesteryear within the walls of one of Italy's most beautiful villages.
At the moment, the official dates and program for the 2026 edition of the Glorenza Advent have not yet been announced by the organizers. As every year, the market is expected to take place on the first weekend of December, coinciding with the Immaculate Conception, in the historic center of Glorenza (Glurns), in the Vinschgau Valley. The full program, featuring concerts by local choirs and bands as well as family entertainment, will be published by the Laubenkomitee der Stadt Glurns on the website www.glurns.eu.
