In Rozzano, in the province of Milan, the Oasi Smeraldino (Emerald Oasis) preserves a small treasure of biodiversity. Every spring, when the glow-worms return to illuminate the darkness, the association APE Natura organizes the Lucciolata: a guided night walk to observe the luminous dance of these insects up close, a natural spectacle that is increasingly rare in urbanized areas.

A walk in the dark

The guided route leads from the Oasi Smeraldino to the surrounding green areas, on a night journey of silence and attention. To avoid disturbing the glow-worms and to observe them best, you are asked to wear dark clothing and refrain from using torches and mobile phones: only in this way can the luminous dance of the insects reveal itself in all its beauty.

The Lucciolata is designed to be experienced with the family and is also suitable for children aged 8 and over. It is a special way to introduce children to nature, teaching respect for the environment and for the ecosystems that survive on the outskirts of the big city.
