The Pink Race arrives in the heart of the Prosecco hills, after the Muro di Ca' del Poggio
The finish of the 18th stage of the 2026 Giro d'Italia in Pieve di Soligo, in the province of Treviso, brought the Pink Race to the heart of the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene Prosecco Hills, a UNESCO World Heritage site. An event of great appeal for the Marca Trevigiana territory, capable of transforming the roads between the vineyards into a stage for great international cycling.
The stage finish was designed around a series of climbs that ignited the race: after Valdobbiadene, the riders tackled Combai, Tarzo, and especially the formidable Muro di Ca' del Poggio, a symbolic climb for Veneto cycling. Just 1.1 km long but with an average gradient of over 11% and peaks around 19%, the climb, with the summit just over 9 km from the finish, represented the last major obstacle before the arrival in Pieve di Soligo.
The passage of the Giro is much more than a race: it is a popular festival that involves entire towns, with fans lining the roads, side events, and an extraordinary showcase for the Prosecco territory. Thousands of enthusiasts gathered along the route and at the finish line to experience the excitement of the Pink Race.
Pieve di Soligo, the town of Andrea Zanzotto, is one of the centers of the Prosecco hills. The arrival of the Giro d'Italia was an opportunity to bring images of a unique landscape, made of vineyards, villages, and hills, recognized by UNESCO in 2019, to the whole world.
The 18th stage of the 2026 Giro d'Italia, finishing in Pieve di Soligo, took place on Thursday, May 28, starting from Fai della Paganella. The finale, in the heart of the Prosecco hills, featured, after Valdobbiadene, a series of climbs – Combai, Tarzo, and the Muro di Ca' del Poggio (1.1 km at over 11% average gradient, peaks at 19%, summit just over 9 km from the finish) – which thinned out the peloton. Paul Magnier won the sprint, ahead of Zambanini and Milan, on a day of great appeal for the Marca Trevigiana territory.
