The Giornata dell'Emigrante is a deeply felt event in Lusiana, a hamlet of the municipality of Lusiana Conco on the Asiago Plateau, in the province of Vicenza. Established in the 1960s, it commemorates the many families who left the Plateau to seek work abroad, keeping alive the bond with their homeland.
Faith, music, and reflection
The day takes place between the Council Chamber of Lusiana and the Chiesetta di Santa Maria degli Emigranti (little Church of Saint Mary of the Emigrants) in Velo di Lusiana. The program combines greetings from authorities, a conference on past and present migration issues, a concert by the Lusiana band, a mass, and the presentation of an award (the Golden Plaque) to a figure who has distinguished themselves in their commitment to emigrants. This is followed by a community lunch.
A community that does not forget
The event is organized by the Ente Vicentini nel Mondo (Association of Vicenza People in the World) together with the Municipality of Lusiana Conco and the parish of San Giacomo. It is an event that intertwines memory, identity, and celebration, testifying to the strong community spirit of the Plateau villages.

The 2026 edition of the Giornata dell'Emigrante, expected to be the 58th, will be held at the end of July in Lusiana di Lusiana Conco, on the Asiago Plateau.
