The festival of the Cappuccini district

The Sagra di Sant'Anna is the summer event of the Cappuccini district of Thiene, in the province of Vicenza. It takes place in the spaces around the Parish Church of Madonna dell'Olmo, on Via del Santuario, and for over two weeks in July transforms the neighbourhood into a large meeting place with communal tables, music, and tradition.

The food stall and conviviality

The heart of the festival is the food stall, which opens every evening from 7:30 PM with dishes from Venetian cuisine. Alongside the cooking, there is always the charity raffle, active for the entire duration of the festival, the proceeds of which support the activities of the district and the parish.

Music, sport, and community

The evenings are enlivened by DJ sets and live concerts, with local bands ranging from acoustic rock to tributes. Sport is also a key feature with the "Giuseppe Balasso" Memorial 5-a-side Football Tournament and other competitions involving young people and adults from the neighbourhood. It is a festival built entirely by volunteers from the Cappuccini District Committee, an expression of the community volunteering that keeps the tradition of festivals alive in Thiene and throughout the Veneto region.

The patron saint's festival

The most cherished moment is the Festival of Saints Joachim and Anne, on July 26th, with solemn masses marking the day. Saint Anne, mother of the Virgin, is venerated here with a devotion rooted in the history of the Sanctuary of Madonna dell'Olmo.
