The Christmas markets of Asiago, between lights and wooden chalets
When the first snow arrives, Asiago dons its festive attire: the Giardini di Natale (Christmas Gardens) are born, the Christmas market that enlivens the center of the main town of the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni. The main squares โ Piazza Carli, Piazza II Risorgimento and Piazza Duomo โ fill with sparkling lights, decorations, and wooden chalets.
Artisans and local producers exhibit in the chalets: handmade items, wood, glass, and ceramic decorations, scented candles, lanterns, home textiles, wool hats, and natural products. There are also food stalls with mountain specialties, from polenta with Asiago DOP cheese to sandwiches, from mulled wine to hot chocolate.
The Giardini di Natale focus heavily on families: among the initiatives are the "enchanted forest" and Santa Claus's house, designed for children. An opportunity to experience Christmas outdoors, in one of the most beloved locations in the Vicenza Dolomites, in the province of Vicenza.
The 2026/2027 edition of the Giardini di Natale will bring the Christmas market back to Asiago in the central squares, from November to Epiphany. As tradition dictates, the wooden chalets will host local artisans and producers, with food stalls and family-friendly activities. The precise schedule will be published by the Municipality of Asiago in the autumn.
The detailed program for the 2026/2027 edition will be announced in the autumn months. Based on previous editions, the markets will open on the weekends in November (10:00 AM - 7:00 PM) and then every day from early December until January 6th, featuring chalets from artisans and producers, an "enchanted forest", Santa's house, and food stalls with polenta and Asiago DOP, mulled wine, and hot chocolate.
Asiago can be reached by car from the A31 Valdastico (Piovene Rocchette exit, Strada del Costo) or from the A4 via Vicenza. By train to Bassano del Grappa or Vicenza, then by bus. In winter, it is advisable to have snow chains or winter tires.
Free admission. In the weeks of November, the markets are open only on weekends, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM; from early December to Epiphany, they are open every day, with reduced hours on Christmas Day.
