The Neighborhood That Celebrates

The Giambellino Festival is a widespread neighborhood celebration involving Giambellino-Lorenteggio, a working-class area with a strong identity in southwest Milan (Municipality 6, Province of Milan, Lombardy). The event takes place between two symbolic locations in the district: Casetta Verde, at Via Odazio 7, and Mercato Lorenteggio, at Via Lorenteggio 177. It is promoted by the Giambellino-Lorenteggio Neighborhood Workshop, an organization active in strengthening the cohesion and participation of the territory.

A Community Program

The festival brings together many facets of the neighborhood. There is the agri-food market, the community lunch, live music and folk dances, the Giambellino choir, theater and street circus performances. There are also moments for reflection, such as the seminar on Community Cooperatives and the presentation of the "Atlas of Change," along with the presentation of the neighborhood newspaper "L'urlo del Giambellino" and a bocce tournament.

Between Workshops and Street Art

Saturday's program includes the Circobus circus workshop, a craft market, live music, a book presentation, and a street circus performance. An intertwining of languages — gastronomy, music, theater, circus, culture, and social engagement — that makes the Giambellino Festival much more than just a simple celebration: a moment for the neighborhood to express itself and come together.

A Solidarity Festival

Admission is free, and the spirit is one of participation: the festival arises from the grassroots, from the initiative of residents and associative realities, to enhance a neighborhood often perceived as marginalized but rich in energy and relationships.
