Three nights of stand-up comedy at YellowSquare, featuring both rising stars and established names
GEN-C Festival is a stand-up comedy showcase spanning three Italian cities—Milan, Rome, and Florence. In April 2026, it stopped in the capital at YellowSquare Rome, located at Via Palestro 51, in the heart of the Esquilino district, just a short walk from Termini Station. The concept was born from Antonio Troiano, supported by the YellowSquare events team, with a clear goal: to provide visibility to the new Italian stand-up scene by placing emerging comedians in direct dialogue with established names.
The festival's name speaks for itself. GEN-C represents the generation of comedians who grew up in clubs, open mics, and on social media, and are now seeking a real stage and an audience beyond their circle of friends. The festival curates evenings where rising stars share the stage with seasoned professionals—a format that serves as both a showcase and a training ground, allowing the Roman audience to discover multiple voices in a single night.
Unlike a standard club night, the festival formula packs a variety of styles into three days: classic monologues, experimental formats, and—for the Rome leg—a cooking comedy show, a hybrid of culinary arts and humor that has become one of the signature features of the capital's programming.
The venue is no coincidence. YellowSquare Rome is a hostel that has long served as a meeting point for the city's young, international crowd, with its PlayBar regularly hosting stand-up comedy nights. We are in the Termini-Esquilino district, one of Rome's most vibrant and diverse hubs. Piazza Vittorio, Santa Maria Maggiore, and the Baths of Diocletian are just steps away, and the area is perfectly connected by all of the capital's train and metro lines. It is an ideal setting for a festival aimed at an under-35 audience accustomed to getting around by public transport.
The Rome leg of GEN-C is part of a live comedy scene that has grown significantly in the capital over recent years, with a network of clubs, open mics, and festivals bringing stand-up out of the niche. Lazio, and Rome in particular, is now one of Italy's three main hubs for the genre alongside Milan and Florence—the very three cities visited by the festival. GEN-C thus acts as a bridge between local scenes that often remain separate, facilitating the circulation of comedians and audiences between cities over the course of a few weeks.
The shows take place in the evening, usually starting around 8:30 PM - 9:00 PM. Capacity is limited, so it is advisable to check availability on YellowSquare Rome's channels and book in advance. For other legs of the tour, Milan hosts GEN-C in the Salone14 of the Milanese YellowSquare, and Florence at the Bargiù Club of the Florentine YellowSquare.
From April 13 to 15, 2026, YellowSquare Rome hosted the capital's leg of GEN-C Festival, the stand-up comedy showcase conceived by Antonio Troiano and spread across Milan, Rome, and Florence. Three consecutive nights in the hostel's spaces on Via Palestro, in the Esquilino district, with programming built on the dialogue between emerging comedians and well-known performers of Italian comedy.
Announced names for the 2026 showcase included Tiziano La Bella, Carmine Del Grosso, Serena Bongiovanni, and Ivano Bisi. The Rome leg also featured a cooking comedy show, a hybrid format between live cooking and comedic monologue, which served as the distinctive element of the Roman program compared to the other two cities.
The three legs followed one another over the course of a single week: Milan from April 10 to 12 in Salone14, Rome from April 13 to 15, and Florence from April 16 to 18 at the Bargiù Club, with evening start times.
