Two days of widespread games, creativity, and intergenerational encounters in Cesano Boscone
In the heart of the Milanese hinterland, the Municipality of Cesano Boscone (Province of Milan, Lombardy) offers an event that puts something simple and precious at its center: play as an opportunity for connection. The Game Festival is a widespread event that, for two days, transforms the entire city into a large shared space dedicated to wonder and sharing. Not just any playground, but a network of places—parks, historic villas, oratories, schools, courtyards—that light up simultaneously with playful activities for all ages.
In an era dominated by screens, the festival deliberately chooses analog games: chess, wooden games, board games, construction toys, manual activities. It is a precise cultural choice, aiming to bring children, young people, and adults back around a table or on a lawn, to compete face-to-face. Local associations—from Attività Cesanesi to Pasubio Vive, from Monelli Ribelli to the We run the Streets collective—animate the various spaces with tournaments, workshops, and demonstrations.
The true goal of the Game Festival is declared from the title of its presentations: rediscovering the city as a community. The symbolic places of Cesano Boscone—Parco Pertini, Parco Borsellino, Villa Marazzi—become points on a map to be explored on foot, moving from one activity to another. It is an invitation to experience public spaces, to foster dialogue between generations, and to enhance the local associative fabric.
From the youngest, involved in creative workshops and drawing competitions, to teenagers trying their hand at graffiti and tournaments, to adults passionate about chess and strategy games: the program is designed to leave no one out. Promoted by the municipal administration and with free admission, the festival is one of the most original offerings of the Cesano Boscone spring calendar.
The second edition of the Game Festival takes place in Cesano Boscone on the weekend of May 16-17, 2026, confirming the formula of widespread games involving parks, courtyards, oratories, and public spaces. The program combines analog games, creativity, and intergenerational encounters, with the active involvement of city associations. Free admission to all activities.
The festival is spread across multiple locations in Cesano Boscone: Parco Pertini, Parco Borsellino, Villa Marazzi, the CittĂ del Gioco (via Trento 12/a), the Civic Music School (via Matteotti 9), and the San Giovanni Battista oratory.
Cesano Boscone is on the outskirts of Milan, reachable by car from the western ring road and by public transport (bus from the M1 Bisceglie metro station). The various venues are walkable within the city.
Activities are free and open to everyone.
