About Gallo d'Oro
A singing competition that has lasted for over half a century
The Gallo d'Oro Festival is one of the most deeply rooted musical events in the Province of Pesaro and Urbino. Founded in 1966, it is an award for new and emerging voices, faces, and talents: every summer it transforms Gallo di Petriano, a hamlet in the Municipality of Petriano in the Marche region, into a small stage where singers from all backgrounds test themselves before the public and a qualified jury. With its 54th edition, the festival confirms a rare continuity in the Italian singing competition scene.
How the competition works
Participants perform live with original songs or covers, accompanied by the festival's musical direction. The selection process includes an audition phase held a few weeks before the final evenings. Singers aged 14 and over compete, evaluated by a jury of music and entertainment professionals. The best compete for the title and special prizes, historically including the award for the best original song.
The Golden Rooster for the youngest
Alongside the main competition, the festival dedicates an evening to the very young with the Golden Rooster (Galletto d'Oro), aimed at children and teenagers aged 5 to 13. It's a highly anticipated event for local families, designed to introduce youngsters to the stage and music in a festive atmosphere.
A village festival in the heart of Montefeltro
The evenings take place in Piazza Cavour, in the center of Gallo di Petriano, with evening events and free admission. In addition to the singing competition, the program is enriched by guests, entertainment, and live music, in a typical Marche summer festival atmosphere. 54th Edition of the Gallo d'Oro Festival
The historic singing competition in Gallo di Petriano returns in 2026 with its 54th edition, scheduled from July 23 to 26. The Pro Loco Petriano confirms the established format that for decades has brought new and emerging voices to Piazza Cavour, evaluated by a jury of music and entertainment professionals.

Programme Gallo d'Oro 2026
Thursday, July 23 – Saturday, July 26, 2026
The festival evenings take place in Piazza Cavour, in Gallo di Petriano, generally starting at 9:00 PM with free admission.
- Friday, July 24 — 4th Galletto d'Oro: singing evening dedicated to children and teenagers aged 5 to 13.
- Saturday, July 25 — Final evening of the main singing competition: the competing singers perform live with original songs and covers before the jury.

- Paolo Notari — journalist, presenter, and RAI correspondent.
- Valeria Visconti — singing teacher, multiple appearances at Sanremo.
