The Frühjahrskonzert der Musikkapelle Villnöß is the annual spring concert of the Funes/Villnöß brass band, located in the Val di Funes in the province of Bolzano, in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige at the foot of the Dolomites. The event is traditionally held in April, often on Easter Sunday, at the Kultursaal in San Pietro (St. Peter), with a repeat performance at the Forum in Bressanone (Brixen).

A band with over two centuries of history

The Musikkapelle Villnöß is one of the historic brass bands of South Tyrol/Südtirol: founded in 1801, it celebrated its 225th anniversary in 2026. The spring concert represents the highlight of the band's season, where musicians present the repertoire prepared throughout the winter. Under the direction of conductor Hans Pircher, the band offers a symphonic program for wind orchestra that alternates between classical pages, operatic transcriptions, and new compositions.

A program between classics and premieres

The Frühjahrskonzert is known for pairing great repertoire authors with contemporary pieces, also dedicating space to world premieres by composers linked to the region. Alongside arrangements from works by Verdi, Puccini, and Johann Strauss, the program has hosted world premieres by South Tyrolean composers over the years, testifying to the bond between the band and the valley's cultural life.

In the heart of Val di Funes

The concert takes place in one of the most evocative corners of the Dolomites, the Val di Funes, famous for the Odle peaks and the villages of San Pietro and Santa Maddalena.
