The Frühjahrskonzert der Musikkapelle Feldthurns is the spring concert with which the brass band of the municipality of Velturno/Feldthurns, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano (South Tyrol), kicks off its new musical season. The event is held at the Castaneum, the cultural center located in the heart of the village, which serves as a hub for the local social and cultural life in the Isarco Valley.

A long brass band tradition

The Musikkapelle Feldthurns is rooted in a centuries-old tradition: the first evidence of wind music in Velturno dates back to the 17th century, while the first documented mention of the band, which originated from the parish choir singers, dates to 1803. During the 20th century, the ensemble adopted traditional Tracht costumes and modern instruments, growing into one of the most vibrant brass bands in South Tyrol. Today, the band has over sixty active musicians and has been conducted by Maestro Albuin Meraner since 2011.

A program between tradition and new sounds

The spring concert is the highlight of the year for the Musikkapelle: after months of rehearsals, the musicians present a carefully prepared program to the public, alternating marches and traditional band repertoire with more modern compositions and sweeping arrangements. The evening at the Castaneum thus becomes an opportunity to appreciate the band's artistic growth and the deep bond between music and the identity of the Velturno community.

An event for the whole community

Beyond its musical value, the Frühjahrskonzert is above all a community celebration: the Castaneum hall fills with families, enthusiasts, and supporters of the band, in the convivial atmosphere typical of South Tyrolean villages. Admission is free, with seat reservations recommended, and the evening is an ideal opportunity to discover the rich brass band culture of South Tyrol, a strong identity element of the entire Trentino-Alto Adige region.
