The running race that unites sport and solidarity between the hamlets of Formignana and Tresigallo
The Formignana-Tresigallo Running is one of the most beloved road races in the Bassa Ferrarese area. Organized by A.S.D. Faro Formignana, the event takes place in the Municipality of Tresignana, in the province of Ferrara, in Emilia-Romagna, and its route connects the two main hamlets of the area, Formignana and Tresigallo. The start is set in Via Roma, in Formignana, where hundreds of running enthusiasts from all over the region gather every year.
What began as a local race has become a fixed event on the running calendar over the years, capable of attracting several hundred participants. In addition to the competitive aspect, the event has a strong charitable purpose: it supports AIL (Italian Association against Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Myeloma) and is traditionally linked to the sale of Easter Eggs for research. The race also keeps alive the memory of figures dear to the community, hosting the Carmine Galli Memorial and the Mary Bolognesi Memorial.
The course is not just a sporting challenge: by crossing the town centers of the two hamlets, the race also becomes an opportunity to discover the historical and architectural heritage of the area. Tresigallo, in particular, is famous as the "rationalist city," a rare example of a town center designed in the 1930s according to the principles of Italian rationalist architecture. Running or walking along its squares and perspective axes offers an unusual and evocative setting.
The event is designed for everyone, from competitive athletes to families:
To conclude the day, there are refreshments organized by the Pro Loco Formignana, in a festive atmosphere that involves the entire community of Tresignana and numerous local associations.
The 13th edition of the Formignana-Tresigallo Running was held on Sunday, March 15, 2026, organized by A.S.D. Faro Formignana with the support of the Municipality of Tresignana. This edition hosted the 11th Carmine Galli Memorial and the 5th Mary Bolognesi Memorial, confirming the link between sport, memory, and solidarity that characterizes the event. The proceeds were donated to AIL, anticipating the national Easter Egg campaign.
The event was made possible with the collaboration of A.S.D. Faro Formignana, Avis Tresignana, Pro Loco Formignana, Centro Sociale Il Viale, and Protezione Civile.
The start is in Via Roma, in Formignana, a hamlet of the Municipality of Tresignana (province of Ferrara).
