Flags and Drums in the Most Beautiful Village

Valvasone, one of the most evocative medieval villages in Friuli Venezia Giulia, is the setting for Flags and Drums, the festival dedicated to the art of flag wavers and musicians. Promoted by the Grup Artistic Furlan, the event transforms the streets and squares of the village into an open-air stage, with flag twirling, drum rhythms, and old-world atmospheres. The 12th edition takes place from May 22nd to 24th, 2026.

Three Days of Spectacle

The program alternates evening performances, competitions between groups, and participatory moments for the public. The opening evening on May 22nd begins with an aperitif at the castle, continues with percussion from the Conegliano drummers' group, and culminates with the fluorescent flags of Palmanova. Saturday, May 23rd is dedicated to the competition between groups and an evening show in the main square, while Sunday, May 24th offers workshops in the morning and, in the afternoon, the opportunity for visitors to try their hand at flags and drums.

Groups from All Over the Triveneto

Ensembles from numerous locations participate in the event: Feltre, Conegliano, Palmanova, Spilimbergo, Cordovado, Cividale, Gemona, Venzone, and, of course, Valvasone. It's a showcase of the great tradition of flag wavers and musicians from northeastern Italy, bringing together historical groups and new generations in a festive atmosphere.

A Special Edition

The 2026 edition is particularly significant: it celebrates the 30th anniversary of the drummers' group and the 20th anniversary of the flag wavers' group of the Grup Artistic Furlan. The event is supported by the Regional Council of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Municipality of Valvasone Arzene.
