A seaside festival in the heart of Milazzo

The Fish Festival is one of the most cherished summer events for the community of Milazzo, a town in the province of Messina overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, famous for its promontory, the Capo. The festival takes place in the charming seaside village of Vaccarella, along the Lungomare Garibaldi, a corner of the city where the maritime soul is still authentically felt among the fishing boats and houses facing the water.

Fresh fish as the star

The heart of the evening is the serving of fresh local fish, prepared according to traditional Sicilian maritime recipes. Preparation begins in the morning, when volunteers and organizers set up the stands and start cooking. In the evening, the village fills with residents and visitors who can enjoy the fish accompanied by a bread roll and a good glass of white wine, in an atmosphere of popular celebration and conviviality.

Tradition, music, and community

The Fish Festival is organized by the Circolo Sportivo e Culturale U.S. Giovanni Cambria with the collaboration and patronage of the Municipality of Milazzo. Beyond the culinary aspect, the evening is always enlivened by a musical show that accompanies the tastings until late at night. The event, free and open to all, represents a meeting point for the citizenry and a draw for the many tourists who flock to Milazzo in August, the gateway to the Aeolian Islands.
