The FIS European Cup in Reinswald

In the heart of the Sarntal Valley, just a few kilometers from Bolzano, the Reinswald ski area has hosted a stage of the FIS Women's Alpine Skiing European Cup for years. It is one of the most important winter sporting events in South Tyrol: on the challenging Schöneben slope, the best skiers on the continental circuit compete for victory in two Super-G races, a high-speed discipline that demands both power and precision.

A twenty-year tradition

The first European Cup race in Reinswald took place in February 2005; since then, the valley has consistently welcomed the circuit. Each edition brings rising stars of world skiing to the slopes of the Sarntal municipality, many of whom have gone on to compete in the World Cup and the Olympic Games. With its technical gradient, the Schöneben slope tests the agility and courage of the athletes while providing a thrilling spectacle for spectators.

The women's Super-G

The program features two Super-G races held on consecutive days. The start is traditionally set for 10:00 AM, with the finish area open to the public. The races attract dozens of athletes from numerous nations, and in recent seasons, Austrian skiers have dominated, consistently proving their competitive edge on this course.

An event for the valley

For the Sarntal Valley, the European Cup is more than just sport: it is an event that enlivens the peak winter season and showcases the entire Reinswald ski area. The event is organized by the Ski Race Center Sarntal, the competitive division of ASC Sarntal, in collaboration with the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) and the FIS. Admission to the races is free for the public.
