The historic Labour Day festival of the Agraria district of San Benedetto del Tronto
The First of May Agraria Festival is one of the most deeply rooted events on the Riviera delle Palme. Born in 1970 in the Agraria district of Porto d'Ascoli, a fraction of the Municipality of San Benedetto del Tronto, in the province of Ascoli Piceno and the Marche region, the event has grown decade after decade to become a multidisciplinary appointment capable of attracting thousands of attendees. The festival retains a strong link with the original values of Labour Day, intertwining entertainment, culture, environmental sustainability, and social awareness.
The heart of the event is Piazza Sandro Pertini, alongside Campo Sabatino D'Angelo, in the Agraria district. The squares and spaces of the neighbourhood are transformed into a large, widespread village, with a main stage, a fair area, food stands, and zones dedicated to families. Admission to all events is free.
The program alternates live concerts, DJ sets, and shows with a large First of May fair featuring artisans, vintage cars, and the LEGO brick festival. There is also the Food Truck Festival, food and wine stalls, and numerous activities for children, including inflatables, the Pompieropoli village, and sports tournaments.
Over the years, the festival has hosted prominent artists from the Italian and international scene, ranging from singer-songwriters to reggae, from folk-rock to tribute bands. The evenings in Piazza Pertini represent the most anticipated moment, with free concerts that draw crowds from all over the Piceno area.
In addition to entertainment, the First of May Agraria offers moments of reflection related to work, rights, and social commitment, confirming its identity as a popular and participatory festival. It is organized by A.S.D. Agraria Club with the patronage of the Municipality of San Benedetto del Tronto and the Marche Region.
For 2026, the First of May Agraria Festival offered four days of music, gastronomy, and tradition in the Agraria district of San Benedetto del Tronto, with free admission to all events.
Among the evening's headliners were BardoMagno with their folk-rock and medieval-themed satire, the reggae concert by Alborosie & Shengen Clan, the eighties revival by RetroMania80, and the tribute to Vasco Rossi by Vizi e Virtù. There was also space for DJ sets, the Food Truck Festival, the fair with vintage cars and artisans, the LEGO brick festival, the Pompieropoli village, and many sports and children's activities.
