The stone village transformed into an open-air floral museum
In Guardia Perticara, a stone village in the province of Potenza listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, the Fiori in Borgo event transforms the alleys and corners of the historic center into an open-air floral museum in May. Amidst floral arrangements, decorated stone portals, and panoramic views of the Val Sauro, the village is dressed in colors to welcome visitors and the curious.
The program combines guided tours of the village, street artists, stilt walkers, circus shows, and entertainment for all ages, creative workshops, and an exhibition of artisan and local typical products. The highlight of the day is the 'Angoli Fioriti' competition, which awards the most beautiful arrangements created by residents, with a final award ceremony. The festival concludes in Piazza Vittorio Veneto with food stalls and live music.
Promoted by the Pro Loco Guardia Perticara in collaboration with local entities such as Tempa Verde, Myky&RoArtEvents, and the Sbandieratori Cavensi (flag wavers), the event is supported by the Municipality of Guardia Perticara, the 'I Borghi piรน Belli d'Italia' club, the Bandiera Arancione (Orange Flag) from the Touring Club Italiano, and UNPLI Basilicata. It is a young but already established event that celebrates the identity of one of the most charming villages in inner Basilicata.
