Masked parades through Filiano, Scalera and Dragonetti
The Filiano Carnival is not concentrated in one place but is spread over several days between the main town and the hamlets of Scalera and Dragonetti. Organized by the Pro Loco Filiano, it is an event designed primarily for families and children, with masked parades, gatherings, confetti throwing, games, and convivial moments.
Each stop has its own rhythm: from workshops and entertainment in the library to parades through the village streets, from confetti throwing in the squares to gastronomic entertainment moments where the community comes together to share sweets and specialties. It is the carnival of the Lucanian villages, made of spontaneous participation and the desire to be together.
Also involving Scalera and Dragonetti, the event strengthens the bond between the different souls of the Municipality of Filiano, in the Province of Potenza. The parades liven up squares such as that of the SS. Crocifisso Church in Scalera, Piazza Belvedere in Dragonetti, and Piazza SS. Rosario in Filiano, where the grand final confetti throwing takes place.
For 2026, the Pro Loco Filiano has organized the carnival into four events, spread between Filiano, Scalera, and Dragonetti, from January 30th to February 14th.
The 2026 program for the Filiano Carnival includes:
When: between late January and February, over several days.
Where: Filiano main town and the hamlets of Scalera and Dragonetti.
Admission: free.
