The spring festival on Mount Quarin in Cormòns
Above Cormòns, in the heart of the Gorizia Collio region, stands Mount Quarin, the hill that symbolizes the town, crowned by the remains of the ancient castle. Every year, on the second-to-last Sunday in May, this place transforms into the stage for Fieste da Viarte – "spring festival" in Friulian – an event that celebrates the awakening of nature and the community's bond with its mountain.
The heart of the festival is the Cret Paradis path, along which the private courtyards of the houses on Mount Quarin exceptionally open their doors to the public, offering typical Friulian food, Collio wines, and artisan products. Visitors walk from courtyard to courtyard, discovering hidden corners, authentic flavors, and the hospitality of the locals, in an atmosphere of widespread, convivial celebration.
The program combines guided nature walks, with thematic excursions focusing on geology and fossils, live concerts on the Mount Quarin plateau, poetry readings, and entertainment for children. It's a way to experience the Collio mountain in all its dimensions: landscape, gastronomy, and culture.
Organized by the Amis da Mont Quarine association with the support of the Municipality of Cormòns, Fieste da Viarte is an experience that allows, especially younger generations, to discover and rediscover Mount Quarin as a space for community meeting and identity. An authentic festival, far from special effects, where the pleasure of being together in nature is what counts.
The 2026 edition, the 28th, takes place on Sunday, May 24, on Mount Quarin. Private courtyards along the Cret Paradis path open their doors with typical Friulian food, Collio wines, and artisan products. A free shuttle service (from 10 AM to 8 PM) connects via Cancelleria Vecchia to the summit of the mountain.
Among the new features is AperiViarte Zero, a non-alcoholic elderflower cocktail presented on Friday, May 22.
Cormòns is located in the province of Gorizia, in the Collio region, reachable by car from the SS56 and by train. During the festival, the town center is closed to traffic, and a free shuttle service connects via Cancelleria Vecchia to the summit of Mount Quarin.
Access to the path is free. Food, wines, and artisan products are available for purchase in the courtyards.
Accommodation facilities in Cormòns and in the Collio wineries.
