About Fiera di San Martino

Every November, Belluno celebrates its patron saint, Saint Martin of Tours, with a traditional fair rooted in centuries of history. The historic centre fills with stalls selling local products, crafts, and food, while the air is scented with roasted chestnuts and mulled wine. With concerts by the Philharmonic band, award ceremonies, and an antique market, it's one of the most cherished autumn events in Belluno, blending devotion, folk tradition, and conviviality in the heart of the Dolomites.

The feast of Belluno's patron saint

On November 11th, Belluno honours Saint Martin of Tours, its patron saint for centuries, with a series of events held under the banner «Benvenuto San Martino – Belluno in Festa». It is one of the most deeply rooted traditions in the Dolomite capital, an event that intertwines the religious, popular, and commercial dimensions, transforming the historic centre into a grand meeting place.

The traditional fair

The heart of the celebrations is the fair, which takes place on the Sunday closest to November 11th along the streets and squares of the historic centre. Among the stalls, you'll find a wide variety of goods and curiosities, agri-food products, plants, and local crafts. Piazza Duomo hosts the antique market «Cose di vecchie case» (Old House Things) and a section dedicated to agricultural producers, while hobbyists set up in Via Duomo and Piazza delle Erbe.

Chestnuts, flavours, and traditions

In Piazza dei Martiri, in the space between the two gardens, the traditional chestnut roasting takes place with volunteer associations, accompanied by mulled wine to warm hands and hearts. You can also enjoy the gourmet pastin prepared by the Belluno Centro Storico Consortium, a specialty of Belluno cuisine. The festival also preserves ancient customs, such as children knocking on doors and singing rhymes in exchange for sweets.

Music, awards, and culture

On the morning of November 11th, the Belluno 1867 Philharmonic band performs the traditional concert, while during the festival days, solemn ceremonies and award presentations are held, including the recognition linked to the patron saint. Since 1986, the Belluno Centro Storico Consortium has also organised a historic wood carving competition, during which artists work on pine logs and panels in the heart of the city for several days.

A Belluno tradition

Promoted by the Municipality of Belluno together with the Belluno Centro Storico Consortium, the Fiera di San Martino is more than just a market: it is the moment when Belluno, the capital of its province at the foot of the Dolomites, celebrates its identity, its roots, and the flavours of the Veneto mountains.

Fiera di San Martino — edition 2026

For the patron saint's day of San Martino, Belluno renews its «Benvenuto San Martino – Belluno in Festa» events on November 11th, 2026, with the traditional fair scheduled for the closest Sunday (around Sunday, November 15th). Stalls, chestnuts, antiques, and the Philharmonic 1867 concert will liven up the historic centre.

The 2026 edition of the Fiera di San Martino takes place around the anniversary of November 11th, the patron saint's day of Belluno, with the traditional fair scheduled for the closest Sunday in the historic centre. Religious and civil events are held under the banner «Benvenuto San Martino – Belluno in Festa».

The detailed 2026 program, with times and related initiatives, will be published by the Municipality of Belluno and the Belluno Centro Storico Consortium in the weeks preceding the event.
