Festival of the East — Como

The East on display at Lariofiere in Erba

The Festival of the East is a major traveling event dedicated to Asian cultures, stopping in Erba, in the Province of Como, at the Lariofiere exhibition center. For two weekends in May, the halls are filled with dances, music, shows, scents, and flavors from dozens of Asian countries, offering the local public an imaginary journey through the Far East, Southeast Asia, and the Himalayas.

Shows and traditions from dozens of countries

The festival represents cultures such as India, China, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Mongolia, Nepal, and Tibet. The program features alternating folk dances, concerts, and continuous performances from opening to closing, with artists from all over the world. Alongside the shows, numerous interactive activities: kimono dressing, tea ceremony, mandala building, and Japanese drumming.

Eastern street food and bazaars

Ample space is dedicated to gastronomy, with street food from Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Korea, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, India, Tibet, and the Philippines, and to bazaars with typical products, crafts, and Eastern objects. It's an opportunity to discover dishes, rituals, and traditions that are difficult to access elsewhere, in a setting designed for families and the curious of all ages.

The choice of Lariofiere in Erba, an exhibition center serving the provinces of Como and Lecco, makes the festival easily accessible and one of the most colorful events in the region's spring calendar.
