The Festival of the Assumption in Benedello

The Festival of the Blessed Virgin Assumption is the Ferragosto event for the hamlet of Benedello, a small village in the Municipality of Pavullo nel Frignano, in the heart of the Modena Apennines, in Emilia-Romagna. As part of the official summer festival and fair program of Pavullo, the festival enlivens the square next to the rectory for two evenings, transforming the churchyard and village spaces into a meeting place for residents, holidaymakers, and hikers.

A Mountain Marian Feast

The occasion is linked to the solemnity of the Assumption of Mary, celebrated on August 15th and deeply felt in the Apennine communities. In Benedello, the religious and popular dimensions intertwine: around the parish church, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Assumption, the festival becomes an opportunity to gather, keep the village traditions alive, and welcome those who choose Frignano for its summer coolness.
