The Patron Saint of Lucito
Saint Nicholas of Bari is the patron saint of Lucito, a municipality in the province of Campobasso overlooking the Biferno valley. The patronal festival is celebrated every year in May, traditionally on the 11th and 12th, with two days dedicated to devotion and the community.
Torchlight Procession and Procession
The most evocative moment is the night torchlight procession which, on the eve, illuminates the village streets; on the festival day, the statue of the saint is carried in procession through the town, accompanied by the faithful. The parish church of Lucito houses valuable works, including a "Madonna del Rosario" and a painting attributed to Brunetti, making a visit to the sacred building an integral part of the festival experience.
A Community Festival
The Festival of Saint Nicholas is one of the most heartfelt events for the community of Lucito, including those who have emigrated elsewhere and return to their hometown for the occasion.
