The historic patronal festival of San Bortolo di Arzignano with barbecues, Carletti, and tradition
The Festival of Saint Mary Help of Christians is the patronal festival of the San Bortolo district in Arzignano, in the province of Vicenza. With its 179th edition, it is one of the oldest and most rooted festivals in the West Vicentino area: an event that every spring brings the entire community together around Marian devotion and conviviality.
The food stall, open every evening from 7 PM and on Sundays also for lunch from 12 PM, is one of the most appreciated in the area. Among the specialties of the Venetian tradition are macaroni with duck ragù, pasta with the famous San Bortolo's Carletti (a seasonal wild herb), mixed barbecues, and the inevitable fritters. One evening is dedicated to paella, available by reservation.
The schedule alternates religious, musical, sporting, and entertainment moments for all ages. The spiritual heart is the procession of Saint Mary Help of Christians, followed by a choral concert in the church. The final Sunday opens with the MotoFestival, while particular attention is paid to environmental sustainability, with the use of reusable tableware.
