The patron saint of Bassano between religious celebrations, city awards, and culture
The Festival of Saint Bassiano celebrates every January 19th the patron saint of Bassano del Grappa, in the province of Vicenza: Saint Bassiano of Lodi. It is one of the city's most cherished events, combining religious, civil, and cultural dimensions.
The religious heart of the festival is the solemn Pontifical Mass in the Pieve di Santa Maria in Colle, presided over by the Bishop. This is followed by the public meeting "Un Anno di Cultura a Bassano" (A Year of Culture in Bassano) at the Civic Museum, a moment to review and look towards the city's cultural future.
During the day, the "Premio Città di Bassano" award is presented to personalities, businesses, and associations that have honored the city. The award celebrates the generosity, civic commitment, and cultural, sporting, and solidarity merits of the citizens, each year telling a piece of the Bassano community's story.
Organized by the Municipality of Bassano del Grappa, the Festival of Saint Bassiano is a patronal feast with a contemporary face: alongside religious tradition, it focuses on the people and entities that contribute to the city's growth, from volunteering to entrepreneurship, from culture to sports.
The 2026 edition of the Festival of Saint Bassiano celebrates the patron saint of Bassano del Grappa on January 19th with a renewed format, designed to accommodate a larger number of awardees while keeping the essential speeches and focusing on generosity and civic commitment.
The solemn Pontifical Mass at the Pieve di Santa Maria in Colle, presided over by Bishop Giuliano Brugnotto, opens the day. This is followed at the Civic Museum by the "Un Anno di Cultura a Bassano" meeting, with the presentation of the "Premio Città di Bassano", which this year features doubled recognitions. Among the awardees is entrepreneur Renzo Rosso, nominated by Mayor Nicola Finco for his connection to the city.
Among the recognitions for the 2026 edition: entrepreneur Renzo Rosso; the Culture Award to Intesa Sanpaolo and Venice in Peril Fund for the restoration of Canova's horse; recognitions to Gocce di Brenta, world volleyball champion Mattia Bottolo, and Rotary Bassano; the "Un Gesto per la Città" award for acts of civic courage.
The Pieve di Santa Maria in Colle and the Civic Museum are located in the historic center of Bassano del Grappa, reachable by train and car via the SP248.
The religious celebrations and the public meeting at the Civic Museum are free to attend.
