The religious and popular festival of the hamlet of Travagola in Pedavena
The Festival of Our Lady of Caravaggio is the traditional festival of the hamlet of Travagola, in the municipality of Pedavena, in the province of Belluno. For over a week, spanning the end of May and the first days of June, the small community of Feltrino gathers around the figure of Our Lady of Caravaggio, combining a moment of faith with a popular festival featuring a food stand, music, and entertainment under the large marquee.
The central moment is the celebration on May 26th, the day dedicated to Our Lady of Caravaggio, with the solemn mass and the blessing of children. The festival, organized by the parish of Pedavena, keeps alive a tradition that has linked Marian devotion to village life for generations, in a valley where religious observances still mark the calendar of mountain communities.
Cuisine is a protagonist, with typical Feltrino dishes served at lunch and dinner: polenta and cod, polenta and schiz, fried fish, polenta and venison. There are also card tournaments, ballroom dancing evenings, and the evocative blessing of tractors, which recalls the agricultural roots of the territory. The festival traditionally concludes with the "Tra i murales" footrace along the hamlets of Travagola.
Famous throughout Italy for the historic Pedavena Brewery, Pedavena is a mountain municipality in the Veneto region nestled between Feltre and the Belluno Dolomites National Park. The hamlet of Travagola, with its murals and hamlets, preserves the authentic atmosphere of Dolomite villages, far from mass tourism.
The 2026 edition of the Festival of Our Lady of Caravaggio in Travagola took place over several weekends, from May 18 to June 3. Under the marquee, dinners with polenta and cod, fried fish, and Dolomite specialties alternated with ballroom dancing evenings and card tournaments. On May 26th, the day of Our Lady of Caravaggio, there was a solemn mass with the blessing of children, while on the weekends, the blessing of tractors and the "Tra i murales" footrace were held.
Program spread over weekends, following the traditional structure of the festival:
