About Festival of Bigoli

In the heart of the Euganean Hills, in Lozzo Atestino (province of Padua), the Festival of Bigoli, Schissotto and Vin S-ciaveto celebrates three symbolic products of the Venetian tradition. In Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, you can witness the preparation of bigoli with the traditional bigolaro and the cooking of schissotto in a wood-fired oven, all accompanied by S-ciaveto wine. Two June weekends of taste, artisan crafts, and conviviality, organised by the Pro Loco.

A festival of authentic flavours

The Festival of Bigoli, Schissotto and Vin S-ciaveto is one of the most cherished gastronomic events in the Euganean Hills. It takes place in Lozzo Atestino, in the province of Padua, and revolves around three products that tell the story of Venetian peasant cuisine: bigoli, schissotto, and S-ciaveto wine.

The bigolaro and the wood-fired oven

The heart of the festival is in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, where you can witness live the preparation of bigoli with the traditional bigolaro, the ancient press that gives the pasta its characteristic shape. Next to it, the dough is prepared and the schissotto, a lightly leavened bread similar to focaccia, is cooked in a wood-fired oven. The bigoli are served by the 'spadellatori' (pan servers) with various sauces: amatriciana, tomato, duck, and wild boar.

S-ciaveto wine and local products

Accompanying the dishes is S-ciaveto wine, a typical wine from the Euganean Hills, along with cured meats, cheeses, and local products. The event, organised by the Pro Loco of Lozzo Atestino, is an opportunity to rediscover ancient flavours and traditional crafts in a village festival atmosphere.

Among the Euganean Hills

Lozzo Atestino is located at the foot of the Euganean Hills, a hilly area of volcanic origin within the Euganean Hills Regional Park. The festival is also an invitation to discover this corner of the Padovano area, made up of villages, vineyards, and food and wine traditions.
