The magical sound of the harp in the Doria Castle of Isolabona
Isolabona is a small village in the hinterland of Imperia, in Val Nervia, Liguria. For years it has been linked to a particular and fascinating musical instrument: the harp. Every summer, in fact, the village hosts the International Harp Festival, an event that attracts enthusiasts and curious visitors drawn by the magical sound of this ancient instrument.
The setting for the festival is the evocative Doria Castle, an ancient manor that dominates the village. With its intimate capacity, the castle offers an intimate and suggestive atmosphere for concerts, enhancing the listening experience and creating a special bond between music, place, and audience.
The strength of the festival lies in the variety of programmes offered by Italian and foreign harpists: from Baroque music to Celtic, from the classical repertoire to new age, to jazz and ethnic music. A journey through different genres and eras, united by the unmistakable timbre of the harp.
The Harp Festival has helped to make Isolabona known far beyond regional borders, transforming a small village into a reference point for harp lovers. An opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the Imperia hinterland and to experience an extraordinary musical event, in the heart of western Liguria.
The 2026 edition of the International Harp Festival is scheduled, as tradition dictates, for the last weekend of July, in the Doria Castle of Isolabona (Imperia).
Italian and international harpists will alternate in concerts spanning different genres and eras, from Baroque to Celtic, from classical to new age, to jazz and ethnic music. The precise dates and detailed programme will be announced by the Municipality of Isolabona in the weeks preceding the event.
The concert schedule and guests for the 2026 edition will be confirmed by the organisers.
Isolabona is located in the Val Nervia, in the hinterland of Ventimiglia and Imperia, reachable by car by going up the valley. The Doria Castle is in the centre of the village.
Tickets or donations may be required for concerts, given the limited capacity of the castle. Information on the Isolabona Municipality website.
