About Festival della Melodia

The Festival della Melodia Tour brings one of Abruzzo's longest-running singing competitions to Montebello di Bertona, in the province of Pescara, dedicated to discovering new Italian musical talent. The event takes place in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele as part of the Saints Peter and Paul patronal feast, featuring a free-admission evening hosted by Maurizio Tocco and Angela Cantelli. This live competition has launched careers that have reached the Sanremo Music Festival and the trio Il Volo, transforming the village square into an open-air theater.

The Festival della Melodia in Montebello di Bertona

The Festival della Melodia Tour stops in Montebello di Bertona, a village in the hinterland of Pescara, in the heart of Abruzzo. It is one of the most established and recognizable singing competitions in the region: a traveling musical contest that spends every summer touring the squares and historic centers of Abruzzo, turning them into open-air stages. The Montebello di Bertona event is held in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele and is part of the celebrations for the Saints Peter and Paul patronal feast, one of the most cherished moments of the town's summer.

A competition for new talent

The Festival della Melodia is designed as a singing competition dedicated to singers, performers, and promising young Italian musicians. It is the only traveling singing contest recognized by SIAE Italia, and with each stop, it selects the contestants who will advance to the final stages of the event. Registration is open to anyone wishing to test their skills in front of an audience and a jury, in a format that blends live entertainment with competition.

The Festival della Melodia stage has hosted artists who later achieved national fame: Gio Di Tonno, winner of the 2008 Sanremo Music Festival, Gianluca Ginoble, a member of the trio Il Volo, and tenor Piero Mazzocchetti. It is precisely this mission of discovering and promoting new talent that makes the festival a highly anticipated and appreciated event for the Abruzzese public.

A free-admission evening

The Montebello di Bertona stop, like all evenings on the tour, is free to attend. The evening is hosted by Maurizio Tocco, a singer-songwriter and showman who is the heart and soul of the event, and television presenter Angela Cantelli. Contestants take turns on the stage in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, accompanied by entertainment and performances that involve the entire square. At the end of the evening, the jury awards the winner and presents special prizes, with municipal authorities handing out the pass for the competition's final.

Montebello di Bertona and the Abruzzo summer

By hosting a stop of the Festival della Melodia as part of the Saints Peter and Paul feast, the Municipality of Montebello di Bertona joins the rich summer calendar of the villages in the Province of Pescara, in Abruzzo, where singing competitions, food festivals, and patronal feasts bring summer nights to life. Nestled at the foot of the Gran Sasso massif, the village offers visitors the chance to discover an authentic corner of the Pescara hinterland, combining live music with the genuine atmosphere of a community celebration.
