In Duronia, in the province of Campobasso, the patron saint is San Rocco, celebrated on August 16th. The patronal festival is one of the most cherished moments of the Duronia summer, which also attracts many emigrants returning for the holidays.
Festivals of Traditional Dishes
The religious festival is complemented by gastronomic festivals dedicated to traditional local dishes. The stars are pasta and beans and 'scattone' (or 'squattone'), Duronia's typical dish made with pasta and wine, a symbol of Molise's rustic cuisine. Among the village's specialities are also 'laganelle', handmade tagliatelle.

The day of August 16th intertwines rites honouring San Rocco with popular games, music, and conviviality.
