The patron saint of the village of Isernia celebrated on September 29th
Sant'Elena Sannita is a small municipality in the province of Isernia, nestled at almost 800 meters above sea level in the heart of the internal Molise region. The village honours Saint Michael the Archangel as its patron saint, a devotion rooted in centuries past and particularly felt by the community.
The patronal feast falls on September 29th, the day of the Archangel's liturgical feast. The occasion includes a solemn Mass and a procession of the saint's statue through the village streets, accompanied by the participation of the faithful and the usual celebrations that liven up the village.
As in many towns in the internal Molise region, the patronal feast is the moment of the year when the village comes together: an occasion of faith and meeting that also attracts returning emigrants. The devotion to Michael links Sant'Elena Sannita to the broader tradition of the cult of Saint Michael spread throughout the Apennines and Southern Italy.
In 2026 too, Sant'Elena Sannita celebrates its patron saint Saint Michael the Archangel on September 29th. The day, deeply significant for the small village of Isernia, includes a solemn Mass and a procession of the saint's statue through the village streets.
The times and full program of the celebrations will be announced by the parish and the Municipality in the weeks preceding the event.
The detailed program for 2026 will be published closer to the feast.
