The patron saint's festival at the foot of the Dolomites
The Festa Patronale di San Gregorio Papa is the most important event in the calendar for San Gregorio nelle Alpi, a municipality in Valbelluna, province of Belluno. The village, nestled amidst meadows and woods at the foot of the Dolomites, owes its name to Saint Gregory the Great, Pope and Doctor of the Church, celebrated as its patron saint.
The festival intertwines religious observance, with a solemn mass in honour of the saint, and community spirit, made up of gatherings, convivial moments, and tradition. It is an occasion for the small mountain community to come together, renewing the bond with their patron saint and their roots.
Organised with the support of the Pro Loco (local tourism association), the patronal festival is an opportunity to discover San Gregorio nelle Alpi and Valbelluna, an authentic territory on the edge of the Belluno Dolomites National Park, far from the main tourist crowds but rich in nature and tradition.
In 2026, the Festa Patronale di San Gregorio Papa will be celebrated on September 3, as indicated by the event calendar of the Municipality of San Gregorio nelle Alpi. The day is dedicated to the patron saint with a solemn mass and convivial moments that bring together the community of the village, in the heart of the Belluno Valbelluna.
Detailed program to be announced by the Pro Loco and the Municipality closer to the date.
